Mount Baker

A sunny day, we drove to Mount Baker in Washington State, USA.
Moss covered trees.

We took many switchbacks, shady areas were icy.

The higher we drove. more snow!

The runs were open, very few on skis, Snow boards are popular.

Me enjoying the sun.

My brother Ted

Sadly my brother passed away on Jan. 24th. He had been battling cancer for the past year.
We were five, Ted was the third born.
Born on the homestead in Manitoba.
Spoke both Norwegian and English when just a toddler.
His favorite expression "Godt og spise" translated " It is good to eat"
He had a love for family, friends, nature and God.
Wrote poetry, composed music (country) even though he was tone deaf.
One song made #2 on the Danish Hit Parade!
I have lost a sister, my husband and now a brother to cancer
Oh, that cure will be found.

A chair in our home is now empty

A loved one is gone from our midst

The bible he read on the sidetable

The pages some tattered and loose,

His spirit will linger amongst us

As on our lifes journey we go

And when our travels are over

We will gather on that heavenly shore.

Beloved Ted, you are missed.
Your Sister, Alphikd

I have now lost my sister, my husband and now my brother to this scourge.

Karen & Me!
Mount Baker

Golden Leaves

Strait of Georgia
Trees and water

When you wake up on a Saturday morning and the sky is blue you take advantage of the day, here in BC those days are rare, especially in November. A perfect day to drive to Washington State and take the Chuckanut route along the ocean. The border is a half hour drive from daughters place, there was a line up at the crossing, other people had the same idea we had. Half an hour later we were in the USA. First stop Coffee and breakfast, which we enjoyed sitting in front of a warm fireplace. Then the drive along Chuckanut, the views were spectacular, San Juan Islands, Georgia Strait, Trees, Rocks, God`s creation for us to enjoy. We stopped for lunch at `The Oyster Inn` a restaurant we had visited years ago with Gord, sat at the same table, enjoyed the same view over a creek. The restaurant had changed hands twice in the last few years, however the menu much the same featuring oysters. After a two hour lunch stopped at Burlington, Target and Freddie Meyers to shop. We Canadians enjoy the variety the American Stores offer. A full day we were home at 5:30 !
